ESPN New York‘s Adam Rubin reported on Twitter Monday afternoon that the Mets are going to designate Dillon Gee for assignment.
Gee seemingly got one more chance in a spot start on Sunday and failed miserably — 3.2 innings, eight runs on 11 hits. Overall Gee was 0-3 with a 5.90 ERA in eight games, including one relief appearance.
Gee has been bounced around since before the season even began. He was slated for the bullpen, then had to fight for his old starting job when Zack Wheeler went down in Spring Training.
