The Mets announced a surprising roster move.
The Mets have announced that relief pitcher Akeel Morris, who has thus far spent all of the 2015 season with the High-A St. Lucie Mets, is on his way to New York and expected to be activated on Monday. In 23 appearances for St. Lucie, Morris has a 1.74 ERA with 44 strikeouts and 14 walks in 31 innings of work.
Morris was ranked 25th on our list of the Mets' top twenty-five prospects coming into the 2015 season. The 22-year-old has been in the Mets' system since 2010 and spent time in major league spring training this year, but he has not yet pitched in a regular season game above High-A.
