Mets’ Thor: Don’t Blame Me For Empire State Building Lightning Strike

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) — Thor — or at least the New York Mets’ version of the Norse mythological god — wants everyone to know that the lightning bolt that struck the Empire State Building on Monday evening did not come from his hammer.

Noah Syndergaard, who has fully embraced his Thor nickname, posted a photo of the lightning strike on Twitter on Monday night with the message: “Dear Empire State Building: Wasn’t me (For liability purposes only).”

The 1,454-foot Empire State Building is actually a lightning rod for New York City and is struck on average 23 times per year.
