In addition to agreeing to terms with Steven Matz, the Mets agreed to one-year contracts with pitcher Jacob Barnes and outfielder Guillermo Heredia. The Heredia deal is worth $1 million for the upcoming season, according to Bob Nightengale, while the Barnes deal is worth $750,000 with $100,000 in incentives, again according to Nightengale.
The Mets did not tender contracts to pitchers Ariel Jurado, Paul Sewald, Chasen Shreve, and Nick Tropeano, making them free agents. Sewald appeares in the Mets’ bullpen for the last four seasons, putting up his best season in 2019 with a 91 ERA+, but only pitching 6 innings for the Mets in 2020.
