The Mets tendered contracts to all of their arbitration-eligible players, including three I thought they would cut free — Jenrry Mejia, Ruben Tejada and Carlos Torres.
Mejia is perhaps the most surprising. After all, he has 100 games left on his second PED suspension and has let the team down those two times. Why bother with him?
Tejada is also a surprise. He will earn upwards of $3 million, and he is not worth even half that, regardless of his broken leg heroics in the playoffs.
No one was writing about Torres not being non-tendered, but I was.
