With the No. 6 pick in Monday night's MLB Draft, the Mets tabbed high school center fielder Jarred Kelenic, who was viewed as the best high school bat in the Draft.
The 18-year-old Kelenic, who attended Waukesha West High School in Waukesha, Wisconsin, is a left-handed hitter and thrower.
"He's universally considered one of the best pure hitters in the class, with good feel for the strike zone and a mechanically-sound swing that he repeats well," John Sickels wrote recently for Minor League Ball. "His hitting skills are quite polished, especially for a cold-weather bat.
