Mets survive late Mike Trout scare to hold off Angels

Jose Reyes belts a two-run single in the eighth inning of the Mets' 7-5 win on Saturday night.

It was perfect symmetry. It made too much sense. On the night Terry Collins became the Mets’ longest-turned manager, passing Davey Johnson, a seemingly easy victory grew incredibly tense. The Mets started the ninth with a five-run lead. Five batters later, it was a three-run game, the bases were loaded, and Mike Trout was at the plate.
