The Mets came into the final game of the series against the Diamondbacks looking for a win. They had not won a series at home since April, and they had two good games to start the series. José Quintana was starting for the Mets and he’s been struggling a bit this year,especially with home runs. But Brandon Pfaadt, the Diamondbacks starter, was also not lighting the world on fire, so it was a winnable game. It was also Lou Gehrig Day, which celebrates Gehrig’s life and career while also raising awareness for ALS, the disease that tragically took his life.
