Mets suffer 10-1 trouncing by Astros in second spring training game

The New York Mets suffered their first loss of 2019 today against the Houston Astros, and it was a rough one. The reigning AL West champions delivered a 10-1 shellacking to the Mets at First Data Field this afternoon, with the latter team being held hitless for the last six innings of the game.

The main event coming into the game was Jacob deGrom, who experienced his first game action since winning the 2018 Cy Young Award. While his velocity was approaching midseason levels (with his fastballs sitting at 97 MPH and touching 98), he nevertheless did something that he didn’t do very often last season: he gave up a run.
