Mets storm to 10-1 as Zack Wheeler dominates in return

MIAMI — Zack Wheeler aced his comeback bid Wednesday night with nothing less than the best outing this season by a Mets starting pitcher.

Just the fact Wheeler became the team’s first pitcher this season to work into the seventh inning was significant, but here’s something else: He was close to untouchable.

Wheeler’s seven brilliant innings and a late offensive burst — after getting no-hit by the Marlins into the seventh — carried the Mets to a 4-1 victory at Marlins Park, extending their winning streak to eight games.

The best start in franchise history continued, as the Mets (10-1) pounded the Marlins bullpen for four runs in the eighth inning.
