Steven Matz threw 2.2 innings for Class-A St. Lucie Thursday in his second rehab start.
The left-hander who is working his way back from a partially torn left lat muscle, allowed four hits, one run, earned, with one walk and one strikeout. He threw 41 pitches, 25 strikes. The Long Island native needs to get to 90 pitches before he can return to the Mets and make his third career start.
The Binghamton Press & Sun Bulletin is reporting that Matz is scheduled to make his next rehab start Tuesday for Double-A Binghamton and throw 60 pitches.
