Steven Matz left the Mets' series finale against the Miami Marlins on Sunday with one out in the sixth inning after sustaining a blister on the middle finger of his left hand, according to ESPN's Adam Rubin.
Matz, who was making his first start since July 5, left the game after allowing two runs on four hits while walking two over 5 1/3 innings. The Mets ultimately went on to drop the rubber game, 4-3.
Matz missed two months with a lat strain, but the 24-year-old left-hander is expected to be part of the Mets' six-man rotation as they enter the final stretch of the season.
