The Mets are turning to the Red Sox for another executive to augment their reconstructed front office.
Jared Banner, who served as Red Sox vice president of personnel for the last two seasons, was named Friday as the Mets’ executive director of player development. Ian Levin, who served in a similar role for the Mets last season, was promoted to senior director, baseball operations.
The 32-year-old Banner had served with the Red Sox in various roles since 2007.
Last week, the Mets hired veteran executive Allard Baird from the Red Sox to oversee the organization’s major league scouting.
