Coming off of a 77-85 season, New York Mets general manager Brodie Van Wagenen has been making a lot of big moves in an attempt to put a legitimate contender on the field next season.
One of the biggest areas the Mets needed to address this off-season was the bullpen. Last season, Mets reliever’s combined ERA was an abysmal 4.96, good enough for 28th best in the league in 2018.
To their credit, the Mets have done a lot already to address this problem. As part of a blockbuster trade with the Seattle Mariners, they acquired the services of All-Star reliever Edwin Diaz, a 24-year-old closer who lead the league in saves last season with 57.
