On Sunday it was announced that the Mets had signed 20 of their draft picks — 15 of which are pitchers. On Tuesday we found out that the Mets also signed their second round draft pick, Vientos.
Vientos signed with the organization for $1.5 million. This is slightly above $1,094,700, which is what the No. 59 overall pick was valued at.
Vientos was originally referred to as a “third baseman/shortstop” He played shortstop in high school, but many such as Jonathan Mayo of MLB.com believe that he will be moved to third base down the line.
