The Mets signed veteran outfielder Justin Ruggiano on Saturday and placed infielder Jose Reyes on the 15-day disabled list with a left oblique strain.
Right-hander Matt Harvey was transferred to the 60-day DL to make room for Ruggiano on the 40-man roster.
Ruggiano, 34, will be available for Saturday night's game. He played in one game for the Rangers this season before being designated for assignment. He is a .256 career hitter in eight seasons with the Cubs, Dodgers, Marlins, Mariners, Rays and Rangers.
Reyes' placement on the DL is retroactive to Wednesday.
