Mets Sign Reliever Buddy Carlyle To Minor League Contract

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork/AP) — The New York Mets have signed Buddy Carlyle to a minor league contract and invited the reliever to spring training with the team.

The 37-year-old right-hander was on their opening-day roster this year and went 1-0 with a save and a 5.63 ERA in 11 games before he was placed on the disabled list May 14. He underwent arthroscopic right hip surgery June 16. Carlyle is 13-13 in 150 games in his nine-year major league career with the Padres, Dodgers, Braves, Yankees and Mets.

The Mets also announced on Monday that they signed lefty Duane Below and infielder Marc Krauss to minor league contracts with spring training invites.
