Mets sign Matt Adams to minor league deal

The Mets signed first baseman Matt Adams to a minor league deal and invited him to spring training, the team announced earlier today. Adams will compete for a spot on the team’s bench.

Adams spent his first seven seasons with the St. Louis Cardinals, hitting .266/.311/.449 with a 106 wRC+, including a career-best 2.4 bWAR in 142 games during the 2014 season.
