The Mets have signed ex- right-hander Luis Severino to a one-year deal worth $13 million, according to Jeff Passan. It is the first notable free agent signing for the team this offseason.
Severino has spent his entire career in the Bronx, where he has posted a 3.79 ERA, a 3.73 FIP, and a 1.19 WHIP in 727 1⁄3 innings. Those numbers are a bit misleading, as a majority of those stats came before 2020. His two best seasons came in 2017—2.98 ERA, 3.08 FIP, 1.04 WHIP, 230 strikeouts in 193 1⁄3 innings— and 2018—3.
