The Mets signed veteran outfielder Desmond Jennings to a minor league deal and assigned him to Triple-A Las Vegas, the club announced on Wednesday.
The 30-year-old hit .200/.281/.350 with seven homers and 20 RBIs in 65 games with the Rays last season. He spent Spring Training with the Reds before he was released on March 31.
Known as a strong defender, Jennings spent his entire seven-year big league career with Tampa Bay, hitting .245/.322/.393 with 95 stolen bases while playing primarily center field.
He appeared in a career-high 139 games with the Rays in 2013, batting .
