NEW YORK -- The New York Mets signed utility infielder Niuman Romero to a minor league deal, Baseball America reported. Romero, 30, appeared in 12 games with the Cleveland Indians and Boston Red Sox in 2009 and '10.
Romero hit .278/.363/.325 with Triple-A Nashville, an Oakland Athletics affiliate, last season.
He appeared in 40 games between Double-A Binghamton and Triple-A Las Vegas in the Mets organization in 2011.
