The Mets signed their 2020 first round draft pick Pete Crow-Armstrong. According to Jonathan Mayo, the center fielder from Harvard-Westlake High School in Los Angeles signed for $3,359,000, the exact slot value assigned by Major League Baseball. Crow-Armstrong had a commitment to Vanderbilt, one of the top baseball programs in the United States.
Given the abbreviated season caused by COVID-19, Crow-Armstrong had very little time to play in front of scouts and evaluators this season, but the 18-year-old has been a standout on the showcase circuit for years. In addition to playing at a prestigious high school, Crow-Armstrong joined the United States National Baseball team in 2014 and has not only been playing all over the country, but all over the world.
