Mets sign Ervin Santana to minor league deal

The Mets have signed 36-year-old right-handed pitcher Ervin Santana to a minor league contract, pending a physical. Santana was signed by the Chicago White Sox during the offseason. He made three starts for them, putting up a 9.45 ERA in just 13.1 innings.

Santana was great for the Twins in 2016 and 2017, but he struggled mightily in 24.2 innings for them last year before undergoing finger surgery that ultimately ended his season. Including those innings, he has an 8.45 ERA and a 1.71 WHIP with just five batters per nine innings and 3.
