Chris Williams, the 28-year old catcher/utility player who has spent his entire career in the Minnesota Twins organization, signed a minor league contract with Mets.
Williams was drafted by the Twins in the eighth round of the 2018 draft after three years playing for Clemson. Offensively, Williams’s best attribute has been his power; in 225 games at Triple-A, Williams hit 48 home runs and 34 doubles, with an 802 OPS. His slash line of .222 /.335/.468 represents decent on-base and power skills, especially at the catcher position.
Beyond just being a catcher, Williams has also logged time at a variety of positions.
