Mets sign Billy McKinney to a minor league deal

The Mets have signed outfielder Billy McKinney to a minor-league contract, according to the Athletic’s Will Sammon. This is his second go-around in the Mets organization, as he first appeared in 39 games for the Mets in 2021.

McKinney most recently played for the Pittsburgh Pirates in 2024, where he slashed .200/.286/.240 in 28 appearances over 10 games. He was traded to the Pirates before the 2023 offseason after his second stint with the New York Yankees.

McKinney was initially drafted by the Oakland Athletics in the first round of the 2013 draft and made his major league debut with the Yankees on March 30th, 2018.
