Mets sign Anthony Gose, Luis Ortiz to minor league deals

The Mets have added two more relievers to their roster, inking left-hander Anthony Gose and right-hander Luis Ortiz on minor league deals. Both deals include an invitation to spring training, though Ortiz is unlikely to appear in a game for the Mets in 2025 as he recovers from Tommy John Surgery.

If the name “Anthony Gose” sounds familiar, it’s because he was at one point floated in trade talks between the Mets and Blue Jays for R.A. Dickey, though he did not end up in the trade. Gose, who was drafted in the second round pick by the Phillies in 2008, began his career as a highly-touted outfielder before transitioning to pitching in 2016.
