David Wright hoped he'd see "a typical Matt Harvey performance." After all, the night seemed set up for an instant classic, with a sold-out Citi Field buzzing from the euphoria of the first playoff game in the ballpark's seven-year history.
"It seems like he rises to the occasion," Wright said before Game 3 of the National League Division Series on Monday night against the Dodgers. "The bigger the stage, the greater the atmosphere, the more fans get into it, the more he dials it in."
The Mets settled for something far less flashy from Harvey, who rode a wave of run support to grind his way through five innings.
