Another Mets starter has gone down with an injury this week. According to MLB.com’s Anthony DiComo, Seth Lugo has been diagnosed with an impingement in his right shoulder on Tuesday. He’ll miss his scheduled start against the Yankees at Citi Field on Wednesday as a result.
This will be Lugo’s second stint on the disabled list. He started out the season injured with elbow troubles after pitching in the World Baseball Classic early in the spring.
Upon coming back, Lugo has been serviceable – in a way – in the rotation. Like Robert Gsellman, he hasn’t been able to recapture the magic that brought him up to the show last season, but he’s been steady enough as a backend rotation piece.
