Mets set to give Marcus Stroman a qualifying offer

The Mets intend to give Marcus Stroman a qualifying offer, according to Anthony DiComo. If Stroman were to accept, the offer would give him a one-year, $18.9 million contract to stay with the Mets in 2021, but the expectation is that Stroman will decline the offer and hit free agency.

In that case, the Mets would gain draft pick compensation if Stroman were to sign with another team. But the Mets would also still be free to bring Stroman back on a deal themselves, and considering the glaring holes they have in their starting rotation, that’s something they should definitely consider.
