Mets send Rafael Montero, five others to minor league camp

Mets right-hander Rafael Montero was sent to minor league camp on Friday along with five other players, the Mets announced.

Along with Montero, right-handers Chase Bradford, Akeel Morris, and Paul Sewald, left-hander Dario Alvarez, and catcher Raywilly Gomez were dispatched to minor league camp.

Montero, 25, had a 4.50 ERA in just 10 innings (one start, four relief appearances) for the Mets last season before being diagnosed with right rotator cuff inflammation in late-April.

Montero didn’t pitch again in the majors or minors last season due to the injury, though the team stated on a few occasions that he was holding himself back and was no longer injured.
