Mets send disastrous Jay Bruce right back to the bench

Jay Bruce is back on the bench.

The woefully struggling Mets right fielder was left out of the starting lineup Wednesday for the third time in four games.

Alejandro De Aza will play in center field for the series finale against the Braves, with Curtis Granderson getting the start in right.

On Tuesday night, Bruce went 0-for-3 and contributed to a misplay of a routine fly ball in the outfield.

The 29-year-old slugger — acquired at the trade deadline in exchange for highly touted second-base prospect Dilson Herrera — has just three hits in his past 38 at-bats.
