Tony Dibrell out of Kennesaw State marks the third college player taken by the Mets so far this draft. The right-hander Dibrell features a fastball that can hit 96 miles per hour, a good curveball and change-up that he can locate for strikes. He worked on another breaking ball pitch this season, and ended up settling on a hard slider/cutter that rides into lefties.
Scouts view his fastball, curveball and change-up as plus pitches at their best, so he does have a good base to start his professional career. With his comfortability lying on a slider as well, it’s possible the Dan Warthen slider also gets taught to him at some point of his development.
