Mets select ambidextrous 2B/OF Carlos Cortes in MLB Draft

The Mets tabbed high school OF Jarred Kelenic with the No. 6 overall pick as the MLB Draft kicked off on Monday night. Later on, they took high school RHP Simeon Woods-Richardson at No. 48.

Rounds three through 10 are today. Follow along below as the Mets' picks come in...

Third round, No. 83: 2B/OF Carlos Cortes

The 20-year-old Cortes, who was drafted by the Mets in 2016 but didn't sign, is ambidextrous -- throwing right-handed as an infielder and left-handed as an outfielder. The 5'7", 197-pound, switch-hitter will likely play second base in the Mets' system, according to Joe DeMayo.
