Mets search for Syndergaard answers: Little confidence glaring

LOS ANGELES — If Noah Syndergaard isn’t the biggest disappointment in the Mets rotation it’s only because Jason Vargas still gets a turn every fifth day.

And considering Syndergaard has avoided the injured list this season and taken the ball for each of his scheduled starts without a hint of discomfort, those struggles are alarming.

Except maybe to Syndergaard himself.

“I am not pushing the panic button,” said Syndergaard, who is scheduled to face the Dodgers on Wednesday.

He will take a 4-3 record with a 4.93 ERA and 1.255 WHIP into Chavez Ravine. Maybe the most troubling statistic is the 10 homers already surrendered by Syndergaard, who allowed just nine in 25 starts for the Mets last season.
