Steven Matz has been scratched again.
The Mets young lefty, who was originally scheduled to start against the Phillies Wednesday, will now not start Thursday against the Phils. Now, Tim Stauffer or Sean Gilmartin will start.
The Mets said on Tuesday Matz woke up with some stiffness in his right side, but didn’t act as if the injury was too serious. But Terry Collins said Wednesday Matz was still stiff.
Now, with Matz being pushed back a second day, his availability for the NLDS, which begins on Friday, Oct. 9, could come into question.
It’s believed the Mets will start Jacob deGrom, Noah Syndergaard and Matt Harvey in the first three games of the NLDS.
