In one day, the Mets went from hopeful to wary about whether Michael Cuddyer can avoid a trip to the disabled list.
Manager Terry Collins said Thursday that Cuddyer, who had a shot on Wednesday to aid his ailing left knee, could end up going on the DL as early as Friday.
"I talked to Mike," Collins said. "I didn't think he was going to feel that good today. He doesn't. ... After three days, if that shot hasn't taken effect, we need to look at it again."
Cuddyer was unavailable the last two games. Collins revealed he had pitchers Jacob deGrom and Steven Matz ready to pinch hit in the 11th inning on Wednesday, but neither was needed.
