Add Neil Walker to the growing list of Mets who have been sidelined for longer than expected with back injuries.
The second baseman was expected to be back in the lineup Wednesday against the Pirates, but instead returned to the doctor after he woke up with the lower-back stiffness still plaguing him and notified the medical staff.
“Obviously, we have a history here about concerns about the back,” Terry Collins said. “I know Neil said he’s had this frequently in his career, but we thought he’d be back by tonight.”
Walker left Saturday’s game in Milwaukee and hasn’t returned — joining David Wright, Lucas Duda and Asdrubal Cabrera as Mets who have missed time this season with back issues.
