It's easy to be in constant freak-out mode when rooting for and writing daily about the Mets. However, I'd like to take a moment to acknowledge that - for the moment - the Mets have depth and an entirely healthy pitching staff.
I'm including Jason Vargas because, though he'll begin the season on the disabled list, he is expected to miss just one or two starts recovering from a minor surgery on his non-throwing hand. The truth is, according to people close to the team, if Vargas had suffered a similar injury during a pennant race, he'd be pitching through the pain, and be only limited at bat and as a fielder.
