Mets’ Robles banned three games for throwing at Phillies

PHILADELPHIA –Hansel Robles could be headed toward a weekend off.

The Mets reliever was suspended three games and fined an undisclosed amount on Thursday, a day after he fired a fastball near Cameron Rupp’s head in the sixth inning of the Mets’ 7-5 loss to the Phillies on Wednesday.

MLB deemed the pitch intentional, after both benches had been warned by plate umpire Bob Davidson.

The suspension is set to begin Friday and run through the final three games of the regular season. If Robles appeals, any suspension would carry into 2016.
