Mets minor league reliever Zack Thornton has been named the Venezuelan Winter League's Setup Pitcher of The Year, his team announced earlier this month (Jan. 2, 2016).
Thornton, 27, had a 4.02 ERA in 17 games, during which he let up 12 hits and walked eight batters in 15 innings, for Navegantes del Magallanes.
He was 4-4 with a 3.94 ERA for Triple-A Las Vegas last season, while striking out 55 batters in 61.2 innings.
Thornton was acquired in 2014 in a deal with the Pirates in exchange for Ike Davis.
