Mets manager Mickey Callaway said RHP Noah Syndergaard (strained right index finger) is getting "better and better" and is closer to a point where he can begin a throwing program, reports Anthony DiComo of MLB.com.
Syndergaard received a second opinion on Tuesday afternoon that confirmed the initial diagnosis, reports Mike Puma of the New York Post.
Syndergaard, who was placed on the 10-Day DL late last month, will rest before starting a throwing program, according to Puma.
"Nothing else has happened," Alderson said on a conference call on Tuesday. "We want to make sure the next step that we take and he takes is the right one.
