Mets RHP Jacob deGrom pitched eight shutout innings against the Phillies on Wednesday night.
DeGrom, who struck out seven batters, completed eight innings for a second consecutive start and for the fourth time this season. He lowered his ERA to 1.68 on the season.
The 29-year-old right-hander managed to keep the Phillies off the board despite giving up hits in four consecutive innings. He allowed baserunners in every inning except the first and eighth innings.
DeGrom threw 113 pitches, which is the most he has thrown since he threw a season-high 116 pitches on June 2 against the Cubs.
