PORT ST. LUCIE - Matt Reynolds is looking to get back in the mix. After suffering a tight hamstring in Monday’s split squad game against the Cardinals, the shortstop prospect said he could be back in games as soon as Saturday.
That could be just in time with the Mets announcing Friday that Asdrubal Cabrera has been shut down for two weeks and might not be ready for Opening Day.
“It’s terrible to have Asdrubal go down like that, but someone’s got to step up and take that spot,” Reynolds said Saturday morning. “I am just happy to have the opportunity to go out there and compete.
