Mets reveal plans to retire Mike Piazza’s No. 31

2016 is setting up to be a huge year for Mike Piazza.

In addition to being inducted into the Hall of Fame, he will have his No. 31 jersey retired by the Mets during “Mike Piazza Weekend” at Citi Field in late July.

Piazza will be the fourth Met — just the second player — to have his jersey retired, joining Tom Seaver (41) and former managers Gil Hodges (14) and Casey Stengel (37).

The ceremony will take place on July 30 prior to a Saturday afternoon game against the Rockies. As part of the weekend, all fans will receive a Piazza replica jersey Friday and a Piazza bobblehead for the first 15,000 fans on Sunday.
