Mets return to playoffs for second straight season, presented by W.B. Mason

James Loney's two-out, two-run homer in the sixth snapped a 2-2 tie and lifted the Mets into the playoffs for the second consecutive season after their 5-3 win over the Phillies on Saturday. With the win, New York clinched the top N.L. Wild Card spot and will play either San Francisco or St. Louis on Wednesday night at Citi Field.

  • Loney went 2-for-4 and blasted his ninth homer of the year - and second in three games - to give the Mets a 4-2 lead. He pointed to his teammates in the dugout and flipped his bat prior to beginning his home run trot.
