PHILADELPHIA -- Slumping since the All-Star break and sliding fast down the National League Central standings, the Brewers on Saturday reportedly landed a player they hope can help. They were nearing a trade for Mets second baseman Neil Walker, according to MLB Network's Ken Rosenthal.
Neither club immediately confirmed the trade. Walker was on the field taking batting practice in Philadelphia when the news broke. At one point, Mets general manager Sandy Alderson came out to watch, but he did not speak directly to Walker. Those two and manager Terry Collins eventually descended into the clubhouse together, with a group of other players.
