PORT ST. LUCIE, Fla. -- The Mets parted ways with veteran pitcher Buddy Carlyle on Friday, releasing him in their latest wave of cuts. The team also reassigned outfielder Roger Bernadina and infielders Danny Muno, T.J. Rivera and Ty Kelly to Minor League camp.
Carlyle, 38, signed a Minor League deal with the Mets this past offseason after posting a 5.63 ERA for them in 11 appearances last season. Forever the answer of a trivia question, Carlyle earned the save last season on Opening Day in Washington after Jenrry Mejia was unable to pitch due to injury.
