Mets release Buddy Carlyle, send four others to minor league camp

PORT ST. LUCIE, Fla. -- The New York Mets released veteran reliever Buddy Carlyle on Friday and assigned Danny Muno, T.J. Rivera, Ty Kelly and Roger Bernadina to minor league camp.

That leaves 32 players remaining in big league camp -- including Zack Wheeler and Josh Edgin, who will open the season on the disabled list.

Carlyle, 38, had an 8.10 ERA in seven Grapefruit League appearances. He allowed 12 hits and two walks in 6u2154 innings.

Carlyle made 11 relief appearances for the Mets in 2015, but underwent season-ending arthroscopic right hip surgery on June 17 to repair a torn labrum.
