The New York Mets made a quick transaction before the second game of their doubleheader against the Philadelphia Phillies, reinstating relief pitcher Jerry Blevins from the bereavement list. In a corresponding move, Chris Beck was designated for assignment.
Blevins was placed on the list Friday, missing the weekend slate of games against the Tampa Bay Rays. Beck had been a failed reclamation process for a deplorable Mets bullpen. After posting a 4.18 ERA over 23.2 innings with the Chicago White Sox, he was waived by the team.
