The night after he took his first loss as a Met in gut-wrenching fashion, Chris Mazza has been optioned to Triple-A Syracuse in order to make room for some fresh arms in the Mets bullpen. Both Tyler Bashlor and Stephen Nogosek have been called up to replenish the depleted bullpen, which used all of its reserves in last night’s sixteen inning game besides Jacob Rhame, who was serving his one-game suspension for throwing at Rhys Hoskins back in April.
In all, Mazza tossed 8 2⁄3 innings over four appearances, giving up five runs on thirteen hits over that span.
